Netflix Pick of the Week: Let’s Make Love

I love love love watching movies and tv shows on Netflix’s “Watch Instantly” so I decided to start posting a favorite a week on a semi-weekly basis. This week’s is a Marilyn Monroe flick called Let’s Make Love. It stars French crooner, Yves Montand as well as Tony Randall. Even Bing Crosby makes an appearance!

It’s nothing very original as far as the story goes. French billionaire finds himself “undercover” in a musical revue where his real life identity is being parodied. He falls for the cute blonde. There’s a love triangle. He tries to tell her who he is, and she doesn’t believe it until the very end where he must prove himself.

My favorite part is when Montand decides he needs to learn to sing to win his true love and hires Bing Crosby to be his vocal coach.

Like most Marilyn romances, there’s singing and lots of flirting and wide-eyed, surprised looks. It’s definitely not a masterful piece of cinema, but if you like Marilyn Monroe and silly sixties romantic comedies, I think you’ll like it. My only wish is that Yves Montand had more songs. (I posted a video of him a while back.)
